A New Comet Observing Campaign
The guys who started the Comet ISON Observing Campaign (CIOC) are back! They recently announced a new observing campaign to study comet C/2013 A1 (Siding Spring). This comet is coming from the Oort Cloud and will closely approach Mars in October of this year.
What’s special about this approach is that it may give the first opportunity for observation and study of a planet passing through a comet’s coma! And with the many satellites and rovers studying Mars, we will be able to study this event with amazing detail.
With this new campaign, the CIOC team will continue to post observations about the comet during its journey. There will also be observation aids for those who want to view the comet. Further information about the campaign will be presented in the coming weeks.
More information about the campaign is provided by Karl Battams (he seems to be the guy on these campaigns).
